Hat Trick for SkyBlue

SkyBlue is celebrating retaining Investors in People (IiP) status for the third time.

The national recruitment company, which is one of the top 50 of its kind in the UK, was first awarded the status back in 1999.

This latest seal of approval is a result of SkyBlue's on-going comittment to enhancing the performance of both its permanent and temporary staff.

Developed in 1990 by a partnership of leading businesses and national organisations, the Investors in People Standard helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the management and development of its people.

“This is a fantastic achievement,” said Rekha Jhamat, human resources co-ordinator for SkyBlue, which supplies skilled labour to the construction, rail, highways, facilities management and commercial sectors.

“In particular, the IiP report praised our structured approach to identifying, planning and implementing employee development relations and the ease of access to specialist qualifications for full time and part time employees at our offices in Bristol, Doncaster, London, Manchester and Wolverhampton.”

SkyBlue is renowned in its sector for a strong commitment to training and ploughs thousands of pounds into the training and up-skilling of its 80-strong permanent workforce and over a thousand temporary workers.

To cope with requirements the company set up an in-house training and competency department shortly after the business was

re-branded and launched in 2001.

David Blunt IiP assessor added: "This latest assessment had a very positive outcome for SkyBlue after three more years as an Investor in People business.

"The visit demonstrated the company's significant progress in consolidating strategies that have ensured that all people have the skills and knowledge required to do their job, especially with regard to health and safety."
