SkyBlue team discover hidden talents during charity makeover

 

Teams from SkyBlue's London and Stratford branches, recently left their stuffy offices and unearthed hidden DIY talents to help breath new life into Discover - the story making centre, in Stratford, East London.

The Stratford and London teams descended on the centre to deliver a complimentary makeover that would make ‘Ground Force’ proud, including re-painting many of the attractions in the Story Garden.

The Story Garden is a free facility which opened in 2001 and is just part of a unique and magical space where children aged 0 to 8 and their carers can create stories together through play and having fun. Currently the centre receives over 40,000 visitors a year.

SkyBlue, which specialises in providing recruitment solutions for a wide variety of industries, also installed a brand new drinking fountain in the garden, which was donated by one of its clients, David Powell of Carillion plc.

SkyBlue got its hands dirty to demonstrate the business’s commitment to giving something back to the community and to coincide with the group’s Sustainability Week, which sees employees across the business activity engage in a wide variety of sustainability based initiatives.

“The physical environment in which children are educated has a significant impact on their ability to learn,” explains Sally Goldsworthy, Discover’s Director.

“SkyBlue has done a fantastic job. I’m sure the children will really enjoy and benefit from the improved outside spaces at the centre.”

SkyBlue’s Stratford branch manager, Jared Evans added: “We’re always looking for ways of impacting positively within the community and this project seemed like the perfect opportunity.
