SkyBlue Wales & West office at Bryn Deri Primary School

SkyBlue swapped a stuffy day in the office for wood and nails to promote sustainability in a local primary school in Cardiff.

The SkyBlue team at the Wales & West branch, including Scott Hall, Paul Philips, Emma Galley and Cat Hayes, descended on Bryn Deri County Primary & Nursery School in Cardiff for the morning to deliver a presentation on how to recycle and rationalize our energy resources.

SkyBlue, which specialises in finding labour for the Construction, Rail, Highways and Commercial sectors, completed the day by creating new birds boxes with the youngsters in year 4.

SkyBlue got its hands dirty to demonstrate the business’s commitment to giving something back to the community and to coincide with the group’s Sustainability Week, which sees employees across the business actively engage in a wide variety of sustainability based initiatives.

Diane Moverley, Head Teacher for Bryn Deri County Primary & Nursery School, explains, “This is not the first time we’ve teamed up with local businesses for sustainability related projects.

“SkyBlue has done a very good job in reminding the children of how important it is that we all act responsibly for the good of the planet. The children really enjoyed the sessions which added to their knowledge and understanding about recycling and using energy efficiently.

“The group of 25 children who created the boxes with the help of the SkyBlue team, have already assigned names to the new bird’s houses.”

SkyBlue Wales & West Branch Manager, Scott Hall added: “We’re always looking for ways of impacting positively within the community and this project seemed like the perfect opportunity.

“We had a fantastic time, and the kids were really involved and participative throughout the session.

”We look forward to come back next year to clear out the boxes and we hope the Primary School enjoyed it as much as we did.”
