Safety
The antisocial hours and mobile nature of rail work have always made this a challenging sector. Our teams come have an extensive knowledge of the rail industry; In other words, they are qualified, efficient, proactive and ready to work. SkyBlue can dispatch teams to wherever the client needs them for a wide variety of assignments.
Health and safety is factored into everything we do.
All SkyBlue Rail people are placed on a ten day Track Induction Course, covering all aspects of personal track safety, first aid training, fire awareness, manual handling training and theory and practice concerning Track Engineering.
We supply our people with a wide range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves; Gortex wet weather gear and eye protection.
Through Safety Action Groups (SAG’s), Network Rail based Making A Difference (MAD) and Carillion’s Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) initiatives, our Associates are encouraged to be involved in making decisions that ensure the work sites are safer places. Our target is to reach zero accidents in the workplace, which we regularly achieve allowing our people are constantly working in safe conditions.
For example
In order to save time and money to the client, SkyBlue is training all of its Welders in COSS (Controller of Site Safety) competency.
This means a double benefit to the clients as they know they have the appropriate trained people on the track within the self contained welding team and eliminates the extra cost of a COSS trained personnel required on any project.
It’s simple -
SkyBlue people are being trained in multiple competencies, ultimately they are capable and qualified to control the safety on there own sites.
