SkyBlue one of the UK’s top national recruitment firms has been named Large Agency of the Year in a recent awards ceremony.

The Recruitment Awards for Excellence are given annually to recruitment firms that offer the very best by way of quality, professionalism and creativity in the staffing sector.

The West Midlands based recruitment agency, which has branches in Bath, Birmingham, Cardiff, Doncaster, Gateshead, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Nottingham, Southampton, and Warrington - are specialists in providing labour and recruitment solutions for the Construction, Rail, Welding, Civil Engineering, Facilities Management, Highways, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Utilities and Business Support Services.

SkyBlue also has its own Equality and Diversity consultancy called Inclusion Solved.

SkyBlue beat off stiff UK-wide competition, from Blue Arrow, Morgan Hunt, Morson International, NRG, and Resource Solutions Group.

Representatives from SkyBlue attended the Awards Ceremony in central London at the exquisite Grosvenor House Hotel on the 11th May 2011.

Why we won the Award...

The judges were impressed that "besides from delivering very high levels of client service, in their entry SkyBlue showed a real commitment to CSR (corporate social responsibility) and great work with health & safety initiatives for their workers.

Last year saw the launch of the Worker Engagement Team, which aims to provide a clear and consistent communication channel between SkyBlue’s workers and clients, alongside the firm’s new Customer Care Strategy. Temporary workers can contact the Worker Engagement Team about any issue, at any time.

In particular, the entry highlighted the emphasis SkyBlue places on health & safety issues, continually monitoring new and strengthening regulations to ensure training and induction meets the highest regulatory standards. A devoted team of health & safety specialists means that every single placement made by SkyBlue, including its own staff, undergoes this training. SkyBlue proactively communicates with its workers on a monthly basis through Safety Bulletins, Health & Safety Briefs, and various e-zines and press releases.

Furthermore, SkyBlue also works in the community. Business Action on the Homeless is one of their partners. The ‘Back to Work’ scheme is where SkyBlue supports people from excluded groups into employment or increases their employability skills by providing placements with weeks of experience within head office. SkyBlue also regularly works with local communities to help rebuild or renovate local parks, schools and landscape areas, forging new relationships with many local charities and communities, proving that there’s more to SkyBlue."

SkyBlue's Diversity Guru Wins REC Award

The judges said: "Dave Massingham stood out from the rest of the shortlist by engaging with areas of the community being overlooked in the construction employment market and his diversity vision has led SkyBlue to be viewed as an industry leader in the field of diversity & equality with Dave regularly being asked to attend briefings at Government level."

More than 340 guests attended the ceremony and dinner held at the Honourable Artillery Company, which was also the venue for the Recruitment & Employment Confederation’s (REC) first-ever National Convention.

“This is a wonderful achievement in what has turned out to be a very successful year for SkyBlue having also won Recruiter Magazine’s Best Construction Recruitment award,” said Mr Massingham.

“Our mission was to explore and harness the positive aspects of diversity and equality for our construction clients and the people we place into work every day and we’ve come along way in just 18 months since I was appointed Diversity & Equality Manager.”

With Dave’s knowledge and expertise in the construction field, SkyBlue has become one of the leaders in promoting the benefits of implementing diversity fully into the workplace.

He has helped SkyBlue to achieve the Recruitment and Confederation’s (REC) Diversity Assured Status – a first for a national recruitment firm.
“I feel honoured to have won such an award, but this would not have been possible without the support, understanding and hard work of the entire SkyBlue team.”
